Breaking News

By Susan C. Moeller / Senior Reporter

LYNDHURST (Dec. 26, 2009, 4:45 p.m.) — A 59-year-old North Arlington man was struck and fatally injured by a vehicle on Schuyler Avenue in Lyndhurst, Christmas Day, Dec. 25, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Police are looking for the driver, who left the scene of the accident.

The victim, Kiritkumar Shah, was walking north on Schuyler Avenue from his home toward 7-11 in Lyndhurst where he worked, according to police. He was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Page Avenue during a heavy rainstorm.

Investigators believe the vehicle in question was also traveling on Schuyler; it may have sustained damage to the lights, hood or windshield.

Shah was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he died several hours later.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Lyndhurst Police Department at 201-939-2900 or the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-226-5500.

3 days later & God's gift to law enforcement (O'Connor) hasn't made the arrest yet?

"Who left the scene of the accident." Well, I'm glad I got that crucial piece of information, considering they're LOOKING for the person.

I know police can be slow sometimes, but I feel even the NAPD would be apple to apprehend a suspect who is, you know, standing there.
