Man charged for masturbating while driving

Breaking News

By Alexis Tarrazi / Senior Reporter

RUTHERFORD — A 60-year-old Washington Township man was arrested Sept. 10 for masturbating in a car while driving on Route 17 South, according to police.

A Glen Rock resident reported at 8 a.m. she was driving south on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights when she observed a man — later identified as Daniel M. Furesz — masturbating in his 1993 beige Buick LeSabre near Franklin Avenue.

The woman called Hasbrouck Heights police and they notified surrounding departments on a radio frequency, called S.P.E.N. Rutherford Police Officer William Gumbman located Furesz in a Meadowlands Complex parking lot off the highway.

The victim was driven to the scene where she identified Furesz as the man she saw driving, said Rutherford Police Lt. Patrick Feliciano. Furesz was transported to Hasbrouck Heights. A handgun was later located.

Furesz was charged with possession of an automatic handgun, persons not to have weapons and lewdness. Bail was set at $100,000 with a 10 percent option.

The New Jersey Department of Corrections also reports Furesz has an extensive criminal history of lewdness, where he was charged with 15 counts since 1994. Additionally, Furesz has been charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Furesz was transported to Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.

They charged him with "sexual asault?!" Are you fing kidding me? Masturbating in a car isn't even close to sexual assault! What's next? Sexual assault if someone walks in you masturbating in your house? Sex laws in this country are disgrace.

Did you know he is an American Vietnam War Hero. Bet you didn't know that and I bet you probably never asked the question I wonder Why He Did Something Like That. Well I know this guy well and believe me he is no horrible person. When back in the day at the age of 19 years young Daniel enlisted into the U.S.A.F. He had to be tested and scored very high grades to enter into what later was to be an elite group of Airmen From what I can remember not only did he graduate number one in his class as a Paramedic but in basic training he was the only one in his flight to recieve the marksmanship ribbon for 60 hits out of 60 rounds with his M-16 AR-1 that he had only 10 rounds prior to sight in with. Daniel would never hurt any one. He has been a Safety Conscious and protector of others all his life. He was a Safety Patrol kid in the 5th grade he became a cub scout and later became a boy scout. His father was the Bergen County Hunter Safety Course Instructor and at the age of 7 years old Daniel learned the importance of gun safety but was also quite a proficient shooter. He went hunting and fishing with his father uncles and cousins who were amazed at his woodsmanship as well as survival talents. This would become very valuable to him later on when he enlisted in the Air Force. After Paramedic school he went on to bivouac training then was trained in World Wide Disaster Preparedness. He did so well that the commander came to him and asked him to volunteer for a special elite group of men called PJ's that is Para Jumpers also known as Para Rescue. Dan is a very quiet person and never talks about his accomplishments but I know him as a true gentleman. So I know what's up with the lewdness thing. Well prior to Dan's enlistment in the military he had no criminal record. It was very hot in Florida where he was stationed at MacDill AFB and he was never late to work. He had also the distinction of being trained as Veterinary Technician. That is also known as the militarys Health inspector and or Sanitary Inspector. Dan was assigned to the K-9 Unit where he cared for 26 Patrol dogs and believe it or not 12 horses owned by Generals and Retired Military. Dan had a very traumatic stress related incident where a sentry dog that was in his care died honorably one night on routine patrol on the flight line. The Dog whose name was Max was killed by saboteur and took a bullet through the neck and chest but before the dog died he almost de-capitated the sabateurs head. Dan worked for 36 hours straight helping the base veterinarian perform a neocropsy on the animal. This was to prove that after the military spent over $50,000.00 to train the dog it had to know if the dog died from the gun shot wounds or from maybe being poisoned. See these special dogs only eat what their handlers feed them. They are trained not to eat anything other than what their handlers feed them. So the government wanted to know if they got their moneys worth so to speak. From what I can remember Dan telling me was during the night the Base veterinarian sent Dan out to get something to eat. Dan came back with a couple of Burger Chef hamburgers Fries and couple of drinks and while working on doing tissue sampling of the dogs kidneys Dan had a hamburger in one hand and the dogs kidney in the other and at that moment he just lost it. Dan loved that dog as he did the pets he also had growing up with his own hunting dogs. To put it mildly Dan was never the same after that. Now to set the record straight Dan is not a Megans Law Candidate because he never ever touched anyone inappropriately if he is guilty of anything it is touching himself inappropriately and this was the direct side affect from a War that was not his but yet he felt compelled to answer the call when all the cowards including the Police who arrested him would never be ever to hold a candle to his abilities academic achievements and or courage he exhibited not only in the military but in life in general. We have all heard of Veterans who come back from War Not Right. Some choose to

He was transported to Hasbrouck Heights where a handgun was located. So that means he had the gun and the Rutherford cops missed it during their search of him if they did one. Say a novena fellows and thank God none of you got killed. Bad police procedure. Instead of Captain Merli being in the papers quoted about things that are not in his span of control,he should be telling us what will be done to prevent officers from allowing this to occur again. When he was transported into Rutherford headquarters, was he seated behind any police men anywhere, was he left unattended at anytime ? If given the opportunity would he have shot one of them ?

Everyone is worried about the gun......this guy had 15 counts of sexual criminal activities since 1994...that's 15 years that he was still walking around..I wonder how many people or worse kids he might have hurt that no one knows about. They should lock him away for good so that he may never hurt another again. He can get his rocks off in jail....someone will be glad to take care of him there

This poor guy must be married for a long time...
They should be taking in his wife for questioning. LOL!

No big deal about the gun either. The guns you need to worry about are those in the hands of criminals such as gang members and dirty politicians. Every lawabiding citizen should be allowed to have a gun carry license as in more than 40 states.

No bill of rights reciters? Second Amendment – Militia (United States), Sovereign state, Right to keep and bear arms.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
He had a gun and didn't shoot it. The gun not the "gun". He shouldn't have been charged for having it.
